Drug Rehab Treatment Success Story

I am coming close to the end of the road as a student here at this drug rehab. It has not been an easy one, but definitely one worth traveling. Actually, the most worthwhile road I have ever traveled. There were some dips that I cruised on through and some dips that were deeper and I got stuck in for a while. But I managed to make it this far and not let one rut or dip keep me down. I don’t plan on letting any dip or rut keep me down, ever. I am finally seeing the intersection ahead where the road as a student ends and I have to choose which road to take next, the road back to where I came from, which is utter destruction and a life of a living hell or the road toward a new, happy and sober life where I will live free and happy. Down this road there will be no more jails or bars to keep me from being free. There will be a land of freedom and choice. There is no longer a war which I used to live in every day. I choose to go the way with no more guns, wounds, despair and hurt. When I reach that intersection, there won’t even be a single doubt in my mind which way I am to go. I want to be free and I am going to do it. Look out world, here I come! T.S.

Abuse and Addiction

Abuse
Abuse and Addiction? Where is the line between the two and what is the difference? In terms of drug use, ‘abuse’ is the harmful or illegal use of non-medicinal use of drugs or alcohol. If we define addiction as a mental or physical dependence or drugs or alcohol we can see that the lines are often blurred. Many people feel Drug Rehab is only for those with an addiction. A comprehensive drug rehab such as Narconon Arrowhead will also address those with an abuse problem and in fact many people who feel they only have an abuse problem are in fact in the deadly grasp of addiction without realizing it. Drug abuse is always part of the addiction cycle. A quality rehab program is able to evaluate the underlying causes of substance abuse problems and help the abuser put workable solutions into place before their entire life crumbles around them. Narconon Arrowhead successfully helps the individual help themselves – no matter the stage of abuse or addiction.

Methamphetamine Addiction and Addiction

Methamphetamine Addiction
Addiction is a chronic, relapsing condition, characterized by compulsive drug-seeking and drug use which is accompanied by functional and molecular changes in the brain. In addition to being addicted to methamphetamine, chronic methamphetamine abusers exhibit symptoms that can include violent behavior, anxiety, confusion, and insomnia. They also can display a number of psychotic features, including paranoia, auditory hallucinations, mood disturbances, and delusions. The paranoia can result in homicidal as well as suicidal thoughts. With chronic use, tolerance for methamphetamine can develop. Users may take higher doses of the drug, take it more frequently, or change their method of drug intake. In some cases, abusers forego food and sleep while injecting as much as a gram of the drug every 2 to 3 hours over several days until the user runs out of the drug or is too disorganized to continue. Chronic abuse can lead to psychotic behavior, characterized by intense paranoia, visual and auditory hallucinations, and out-of-control rages that can be coupled with extremely violent behavior.

Alcohol Abuse and Addiction

Alcohol Abuse
Any treatment for addiction usually includes handling alcohol abuse. There is of course alcoholism itself, which is simply the name given to alcohol addiction. In addition to this, statistics at Narconon Arrowhead show that alcohol abuse quite often accompanies other drug addictions and must be handled as well. The idea that one can quit his drug of choice but still abuse alcohol is a dangerous idea. As drugs or alcohol are generally used as crutches for painful situations (mental or physical) in ones life, substituting one drug for another (including alcohol) can be seen as no solution at all. Effective handling of alcohol abuse, or any other substance abuse, involves confronting and controlling those life situations that are creating the need or desire to escape through alcohol or drugs. When one can be more comfortable in life without drugs or alcohol than with them, then the need or desire for them will cease.

Substance Abuse and Addiction

Substance Abuse
Substance abuse generally starts with an attempt to handle pain. This could me mental or physical pain and does not necessarily need to be great. A teenager uses drugs for the first time and finds they helped with shyness and so uses them more and more often, as a false solution to the pains of adolescence. A mother finds relief from family stress with anti-depressants and so continues their use and even increases the dosages. Physical pain is relieved with prescription painkillers and so they are continued more and more frequently. All of these substances have their own particular side-effects which create new situations and new sources of mental and physical pain, and so other substances are now used in an attempt to handle these new pains. Thus most of those entering substance abuse treatment find themselves having problems with not just one substance but multiple substances. Narconon Arrowhead aids the individual in confronting and resolving the use of these substances as well as dealing with the underlying mental and physical pains which resulted in the original and now continued abuse.
